Celebration of Champions

Luncheon and Fashion Show

On Friday, October 12, more than 375 guests attended the 11th annual Celebration of Champions fashion show and luncheon to benefit Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

The event, chaired by Sidney Faust, Judi McGee, Elsie Eckert and Scott Basinger, has raised over $3.5 million in funds for the Long Term Survivor Program at Texas Children’s Cancer Center since its first year. Check out the photos from the event:

Emceed by Morning News co-anchor Melissa Wilson of FOX 26, the show featured pediatric cancer survivors from Texas Children's Cancer Center and from Community Champions, a group of notable Houstonians who do so much to help children battling cancer and make the community a better place. Before strutting down the runway in the latest fashion trends from Saks Fifth Avenue and Dillard’s, the Patient Champions enjoyed a fun morning of getting their hair and make-up done and spending time with Texas Children's therapy dog, Elsa, one of this year’s Community Champions.

We’re excited to honor the following couples for their dedication and support in our community as our 2018 Community Champions:

Dr. Susan Blaney Sippi and Ajay Khurana
Ann and John Bookout Shawntell and Keith McWilliams
Stephanie and Ernest Cockrell Kristina Somerville
Nancy and Jack Dinerstein Leticia and Stephen Trauber
Carol and Phil Garner Stephanie and Frank Tsuru
Glenda and Russell Gordy Laura and Dave Ward
Brigitte and Bashar Kalai Rini and Edward Ziegler

If you were unable to join us and would like to support Texas Children’s Cancer Center, you can make a donation. Thank you so much for your support!

Save the date of October 11, 2019 for the next Celebration of Champions event. We hope to see you there!
